Using Sticker Templates in Math Notes

Free Coordinate Plane Stickers, Graphic Organizers, and Tips:
Using Sticker Labels to Make Math Notebooks Interactive, Easy, and Efficient

I remember how excited I was when I finally splurged on the three-pack of coordinate plane stamps.  You probably have a set or two of them in your classroom too -- They make it easy to just stamp a coordinate plane on any page.

As I started using the stamp, I realized that it was not as efficient as I thought it would be.  It was messy, and only stamped out a perfect graph template one out of every five times, and only when I did it myself.  The kids could not really use them effectively.  Plus, the mess from the stamp pad became frustrating, and I did not like how long it took to pass the three stamps down through the rows of students each time I wanted them to have a fresh coordinate plane in their notebook to plot something.

I ended up just stamping out a few perfect coordinate planes in different layouts on a few template pages, then photocopying that.  Then, we ditched the notebooks altogether for the few weeks we were graphing lines and points, dealing with slope, etc.  The students ended up with big stacks of practice papers in their folders.

I FINALLY have a better method!!

I want to share this with you, so be sure to download the free templates I created here.  You'll be able to print these on sticker label paper and distribute a full sheet to each student.  There are choices of coordinate planes, so select the one that best suits your needs, depending on lesson goals.

I've included links in the file for the best label paper to purchase as well.  These will make your notes so much smoother during graphing lessons!  It's a game changer.

These sample photos show some ways to pop these right into any note lesson.

Then, when it comes time to practice a few examples, your students can just stick three in a row right down the page, and graph right inside their notes.  This way, everything stays together in order in the notebook.

Another great way to use stickers inside notebooks is to print graphic organizers on full-page sticker sheets.  Then, students can just stick it right in the notebook (no messy glue sticks required!) and write on top.

This helps organize the page, build visuals, and boost brain connections to increase memory of the material.

You can mix and match the graphic organizers and graph templates (above) on the same notebook page, or use just one or the other (below).  There are plenty of ways to use these in the classroom, even on assessments.

You can even just use blank sticker labels and avoid the copy machine completely if you want students to just build a graphic organizer themselves.  Try using square, rectangle, or circle labels in bright colors to allow your class to build their own note page.  They can color-code or just write inside the labels to make their own organizer.

The free downloadable file includes templates to help you get started with notebook stickers, plus links to sticker paper and label sheets to make this easy for you to try!  I hope your students enjoy these.  Let me know if you prefer this over the coordinate plane stamps!

Hi Helen,
You can't download directly from pinterest. It's essentially a collection of links.
The files I offer are digital downloads that you print yourself. You can download from TeachersPayTeachers, or some items directly from my blog here.
They will be available for immediate download, and then you print them out. Let me know if you still have trouble :) Thanks so much!
Have a great weekend,
-Brigid

I love this idea! I bought the Avery labels and tried to print the graphs. The first two rows turn out great, but then the last two rows are slightly off (the bottom row prints off of the sticker at the top). Do you know why this might be happening?

Thanks for making and sharing this resource! I can't wait to use it in my classroom :)

Hi Olivia,
My first guess would be to update your adobe PDF reader to be sure the file is showing up correctly. If not, it could be a printer issue (?) ... not completely sure. I am sorry it's giving you trouble and hope it works out! The adobe is usually a pretty good fix, if you make sure to print from the most recent version (free online) and not a "preview" program or right from the web page. If you actually download the file and open it within adobe, I am hoping it is all good. Have a great school year!

Have you seen the graphing post-it-style notes made by FreestonePeach? They are similarly priced to the sticker sheets you link to, but don't require any printing/setup/work on your part... I just found them, and I love them!! https://www.miniplots.com/

Hi! I have been looking for the stickers for Geometry. They have lines, transversal and angle pairs. Can you lead me to those as they are awesome and I want to start utilizing them? Thanks so much!
